Zoe and Centra Retailers Announce Success of Health Action
24/09/2008
Former Blue Peter presenter and Action Cancer patron Zoe Salmon met with local Centra retail partners recently to announce the success of the charity’s youth cancer prevention programme, in educating teenagers about healthy eating.
The Health Action programme is supported by Centra and its independent retail partners across Northern Ireland.
Zoe joined Centra representatives, Action Cancer staff and teenage participants from the Health Action initiative to reveal a 57% improvement in the students’ understanding that frozen vegetables are just as good for you as fresh ones. She also announced that 13% more young people know that eating the right food can help protect us from cancer after attending Action Cancer sessions.
Action Cancer’s Health Action programme delivers health promotion sessions, focussing on cancer prevention and early detection, to over 30,000 young people every year. Centra has already provided £450,000 to the project.
