After eight weeks of fun and sportsmanship, this year’s Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by Centra, have come to a successful end. Almost 1,300 children took part and 23 Centra retailers visited local camps over the summer months.
Despite the summer’s unseasonably wet weather, the kids’ spirits were certainly not dampened, and the skills and friendships that have developed during this year’s camps were evident each week as camps progressed.
There were camps at 20 locations province-wide for boys and girls aged 6 to 13 years. The feedback from all of this year’s camps has been excellent, and with new sponsor Centra, the camps were given an extra boost. Each camp lasted five days, during which participants learned new games and skills from qualified IRFU coaches.
The highlight of each week was undoubtedly a visit from Ulster Rugby players, who came along to join in the fun and sign autographs. The Summer Camps proved an invaluable past-time for both children and their parents during the school holidays, as children learned new skills in a fun and safe environment.
