A recent study conducted by Action Cancer as part of the
charity’s Health Action programme, which is sponsored
by Centra, found that primary school children have a better
understanding of how to protect themselves from sun damage
than they did two years ago. 95% of children knew that
sunscreen was a good method of protection.
Health Action, incorporating the Wally and Wise puppet
show aims to educate young people in healthier lifestyles,
cancer prevention and detection.
Centra retail partners support the Health Action programme
locally, attending neighbourhood schools when the Action
Cancer health promotion team visits. Retailers also fundraise
year-round to fund the programme, generating substantial
media coverage for the community partnership with Action
Cancer.
