Centra Derrylin Raises £3,769 for Action Cancer

17th February 2011

McDade's Centra store, Derrylin has raised £3,769 for its charity partner Action Cancer.

The fantastic fundraising total was donated by staff and customers over the past year.

The funds raised by the Centra staff and customers will benefit the charity's Health Action health programme for young people, which is sponsored by Centra and its independent retail partners across Northern Ireland. Health Action was established to educate young people on healthier lifestyles, including exercise, healthy eating and the dangers of smoking and alcohol.

Action Cancer and Centra have had an award-winning partnership since 2003, to advance the local cancer charity's health promotion service for schools and colleges and reduce cancer risk among young people. To date over 300,000 young people have taken part in the scheme and Centra has donated more than £600,000 to help fund the project.
