Centra helps 8,000 get safe on roads

5th July 2010

The DOE Cycling Proficiency Scheme, sponsored by Centra since 2004, aims to educate children in safe cycling on and off the road. 8, 100 primary school children aged 9 to 11 years took part in the scheme this year and 7, 860 children were successful, which means a pass rate of over 97%. Cycling Proficiency Scheme training for most schools runs from Easter for 10 weeks, with the tests at the end of the school term.

Centra’s support of the DOE Cycling Proficiency Scheme is aligned with its other community based partnerships, which aim to improve the health and well-being of young people - including the long-standing partnership with Action Cancer’ schools health project and the Ulster Rugby Summer Camps.
