Biesty’s Centra Raises £5,700 for Action Cancer

23rd March 2010

Biesty’s Centra store in Ballymoney has raised over £5,700 for charity partner Action Cancer.

An amazing £5,759.73 was raised through in-store customer donations and by staff taking part in Action Cancer events, including an abseil and the charity’s Giant’s Walk event on the Causeway Coastal route.

The funds raised will benefit Action Cancer’s Health Action health programme for young people, which is sponsored by Centra and its independent retail partners across Northern Ireland. Health Action has been designed to educate young people on healthier lifestyles, including exercise, healthy eating and the dangers of smoking and alcohol.

Action Cancer and Centra have had an award-winning partnership since 2003, to advance the local cancer charity’s health promotion service for schools and colleges and reduce cancer risk among young people. To date over 250,000 young people have taken part in the scheme.
