Grand Slam Silverware’s Whistle Stop Tour of Ulster Schools
12th June 2009
Following Ireland’s victory in the RBS Six Nations Championship
in March of this year, the Grand Slam silverware is currently
doing a tour of venues across Ireland throughout 2009.
As part of the ongoing promotion of the 2009 Ulster Rugby
Summer Camps, sponsored by Centra, the RBS Six Nations
Championship Trophy and Triple Crown visited schools in
Belfast for one day only (June 11).
Staff from the IRFU Ulster Branch accompanied the trophies on their journey to
schools throughout the day and spoke to young people about what is on offer at
this year’s Summer Camps and how they can become like their Grand Slam rugby
heroes by getting involved in rugby at a young age. The 17 province-wide Ulster
Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by Centra and its independent retailers, are for
boys and girls aged 6-13 years. There are also 2 senior camps for young people
aged 14-17 years. Camps will run from 29th June to 21st August, and each one
lasts five days. For more information or to book a place go to www.ulsterrugby.com
Centra retailer Donagh McGoveran, rear right, owner of the Stranmillis and Malone Road stores in Belfast and IRFU Ulster Branch Participation Manager Barry Willis joined Rachel Lynn and Stuart McCahon from Cairnshill Primary School as they got a close look at the Grand Slam silverware when it visited their school.
