Young Cyclists Told ‘Be Seen and Safe’

Ayman Omar (10), left, and Ribh Hewitt (11) from Oakwood Integrated Primary School, Dunmurry join Carol Wilkinson, manager of the DOE Road Safety Education Officer Service and Nicky Kelly from Cycling Proficiency Scheme sponsor Centra, right, to remind other children to take extra care on their bikes as daylight hours shorten.

The ‘Be Seen, Be Safe’ message is being promoted by DOE and Centra as part of their Cycling Proficiency Scheme campaign and aims to improve childrens’ road safety during the winter, after the clocks went back an hour on Sunday 25 October.

The partners are reminding children to wear high visibility clothing, reflective belts, as well as lights and reflectors on their bikes to be seen clearly on dark nights.
