The standard at the 2012 Store of the Year awards was outstanding, with the high quality associated with Centra represented by all the finalists. Finalists Biesty’s Centra Ballymoney, Cathcart’s Centra Magherafelt, Kelly’s Centra Trench Road and two McGoveran’s Centra stores on the Stranmillis Road and Malone Road provided tough competition in the category, but Lilley’s Centra Drumlyon Enniskillen took home both the Centra Store of the Year award and the Centra Foodmarket Store of the Year accolade. During the awards ceremony in March, Armstrong’s Centra Crossmaglen was welcomed to the Centra family with the Newcomer of the Year award.
Centra success has been achieved outside of Musgrave too, with excellent results for stores in awards recently. Gormley’s Centra Claudy shone at the EIQA awards, where they were named as the NI Convenience Store of the Year. Cathcart’s Centra Magherafelt was the winner of the ‘Best Use of Category Management’ category at Ireland’s Forecourt Awards, and also came runner up in the ‘Best Customer Service’ category. Biesty’s Centra and Lilley’s Centra were also recognised as runners up in the ‘Best Deli’ and ‘Best Site with a Licence to Sell Alcohol’ categories respectively. The Neighbourhood Retailer awards proved successful for Centra stores in Northern Ireland, as Stafford’s Centra Wellington Place, Nicholl’s Centra Greysteel, McGoveran’s Centra Stranmillis and Moran’s Centra Coleraine were all winners in their respective categories.
